Advanced Open Water Course
After completing our advanced course would be able to dive to 40m which covers all recreational dive sites around the world. As well as doing the following ‘specialties’ that are involved in our advanced course, Deep dive, wreck dive, night dive/limited visibility diving, underwater navigation, search and recovery and freshwater diving. We’ll provide extra training free of charge prior to the course to ensure that you are ready to complete your advanced course. We are flexible with times and dates to accommodate groups.

At Geographe Dive, the Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver course consists of two main phases:
- Theory. The academic training will help you understand the extra skills involved in this course, first at home doing an e-learning then a review in our classroom with your instructor.
- Open Water Dives. You complete your certification by doing a minimum of 6 specialty training open water dives, in a variety of environments and underwater activities. You will complete the following specialties:
A. Navigation (compass and natural)
B. Shipwreck survey (use of cables)
C. Night Dive
D. Fresh water (Lake dive)
E. Deep Dive (certifiable to 40m)
F. Search and recovery (use of lift bag)
During your advanced training you will learn how to dive safely in a variety of environments like lakes, night dive, shipwrecks and deep dives. We will show you how to properly navigate by compass and natural means and show you how to do search and recovery using a lift bag.
You can include an extra NITROX specialty with this course for a discounted price, ask staff how.
When you complete this course, you will receive the NAUI Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver e-certification. This certification level allows you to participate in many unsupervised dive activities worldwide. You will probably want to take additional training later, but the NAUI Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver certification will send you on your way to many exciting underwater adventures, this is just the second step.
Prerequisites
To enrol in the NAUI Advanced Open Diver course, you must:
- Pay the course fee in full
- Be at least 15 years-old (Junior Advanced available for under 15s, ask in store)
- Have a NAUI Open Water SCUBA Diver certification or equivalent
- Have done an open water dive in the last 3 months
- Complete the e-learning before review day
Have OR hire the following items:
- Dive Computer
- Compass
- Torch (primary). The secondary will be supplied by Geographe Dive durng the training period.
- Tank Light
- Slate & Pencil
- Surface Marker Buoy
What's Included in the Advanced Scuba Course Fee
Our course fee includes the following materials:
- NAUI Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver eLearning course
- NAUI app including all dive tools and logbook
- NAUI e-certification in your NAUI app
- Use of dive tanks
- Small class size (between 2 to 4 people max)
- Geographe Dive Training guarantee
- Use of life support equipment (wetsuit, tanks, BCD, regulator, mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt & weights), if needed.
Items Not Included
We do not include one dive torch, compass, tank light and slate, as you will need these items once you are a certified diver. There is a student discount on purchasing these items when you buy from Geographe Dive.
Transportation to and from the dive sites/pool, unless arranged prior.

Diving is an outdoor activity completely out of our control, if weather is not safe to dive we will reschedule your dives, we will do our best to inform ASAP at the latest within 24 hours from the scheduled dive dates.
